Another Disney Day

Image
Wednesday was supposed to be our "rest by the pool" day.  And we did get a good amount of rest-time in.  BUT, we also decided to head on back to the Magic Kingdom for the late afternoon/evening and try to make it to the Wishes! fireworks.  The boys had never seen fireworks before, so this was to be a bit of an experiment prior to the Halloween party fireworks on Friday. Resting and swimming was wonderful, as always, and I was so happy to see both boys so happy and confident in the water.  They just couldn't have been happier.  As luck would have it, just before I was thinking we'd need to start getting ourselves together to head to the park, an afternoon downpour started.  We were actually "trapped" in the pool for a few minutes, because it was coming down so hard and fast that we would have been freezing if we'd gotten out! Showers, clothes, and a couple of snacks later, we were off to the park.  We took a cab to The Contemporary resort, and then to

Magic Kingdom At Last!

So, after two days of only semi-happy boys, we finally headed to the Magic Kingdom! We had breakfast with Winnie the Pooh & Friends at the Crystal Palace restaurant prior to park opening.  I find that scheduling character meals - where the boys can meet a bunch of characters and get pictures and autographs is much better than standing in a bunch of lines to for the same results.  The only thing the character meals don't have is a PhotoPass photographer to take all of the pictures, but given that I am not thrilled with their quality even on a good day, that is not much of a negative to me. As anticipated, breakfast with Pooh was a very big hit. Following breakfast, we hightailed it over to Fantasyland to start our day of rides off with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.  The crowds were light, and moving from attraction to attraction was a pretty speedy process.  We quickly checked off Peter Pan's Flight, Royal Carousel, Alice's Teacups, Tomo

Epcot, Swimming & Whispering Canyon

We spent the morning at Epcot and kept pretty much to my intended schedule.  We ONLY went there to do The Seas with Nemo & Friends, TestTrack and FutureWorldWest.  We did the World Showcase last year and it was just not fun for the boys and therefore not really fun for us either. The boys DO like the aquarium, so that was our first stop.  Thomas was especially excited, but Samuel was eager to move on to TestTrack. After a pretzel snack (and watching a squirrel rummage through numerous strollers, stealing food and licking DRINK CUP LIDS) we headed over to TestTrack.  Needless to say, we left no accessible food or drink in our stroller! Both boys liked designing their cars, and the ride started off well, but when it started getting bumpier and faster, Sam - who had been so excited - started saying, "I don't think this is a good idea!"  Unfortunately, that was a bit late to duck out!  The rest of us really liked the fast, fast ride, and I think that Sam

Wilderness Lodge, Narcoosee's and Hollywood Studios

On Saturday, after three fun days at the Renaissance Hotel, we checked out and headed over to Disney's Villas at Wilderness Lodge.  We stayed at the main lodge last year, in a two-room deluxe room, but this year we wanted even more space, so the villas were perfect. When we first got here, we were assigned a 5th floor room facing the bus-stops/road.  It wasn't a horrible room, but I had really wanted one on a lower floor (the fifth floor balconies have solid walls in instead of slats) and facing the pool/lake.  When I called to ask for a room change, they said there wasn't anything available, so I was willing to settle.  The boys, including Chris, got changed for the pool, and I went back to the lobby to check on a package delivery.  While I was there, I asked again about a room change (figuring that the people on the phone didn't really know anything) and was told that there WAS a room available.  They arranged to move all of our bags into it and we headed to the poo
