Let me get that right out in the open. I am honestly not a big Disney fan. I don't have a room dedicated to Mickey Mouse (or even a shelf of knickknacks!), I don't own every Disney movie (I don't even have all the classics!), and I don't dress head to toe in red, white and black. In fact I think I only have two sweatshirts and three hats from WDW. AND YET, I absolutely love Walt Disney World in Florida. I don't know what it is about that place, but I just adore it. The details, the cleanliness, the happy and helpful people. Yeah, pretty much everything. And it doesn't hurt that the rollercoasters are pretty much as much as I can handle. So, even after taking a trip with the boys last year, I had the urge to go again this year and so back we are going. We're even staying at the same resort - Wilderness Lodge. Now I am fully convinced that part of what I love about a Disney vacation is the planning. I'm a planner/resear...
Despite the title of this blog, we actually started our vacation at SeaWorld. We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel at SeaWorld which was extremely nice. The lobby was modern and nicely decorated, complete with waterfall and central aquarium display. It was open to all floors and many (most?) of the rooms opened up onto walkways that circled it. Our room was a king bed room with one bed and a sofa that changed into a bed for the boys. Plenty of room for us and the television got the local PBS station which was great for us in the mornings. There was also a fabulous pool complete with mini-waterpark which the boys loved. Two big watersides and one tiny waterslide. And of course we went to SeaWorld where the boys enjoyed both big shows (dolphin & orca) as well as the kiddie rides.
On Saturday, after three fun days at the Renaissance Hotel, we checked out and headed over to Disney's Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We stayed at the main lodge last year, in a two-room deluxe room, but this year we wanted even more space, so the villas were perfect. When we first got here, we were assigned a 5th floor room facing the bus-stops/road. It wasn't a horrible room, but I had really wanted one on a lower floor (the fifth floor balconies have solid walls in instead of slats) and facing the pool/lake. When I called to ask for a room change, they said there wasn't anything available, so I was willing to settle. The boys, including Chris, got changed for the pool, and I went back to the lobby to check on a package delivery. While I was there, I asked again about a room change (figuring that the people on the phone didn't really know anything) and was told that there WAS a room available. They arranged to move all of our bags into it and we head...
